There's so much you can do to a commercial-turned-into-passenger van like the Volkswagen Transporter (T5) to spruce it up without making it look ridiculous or complete kitsch, and we think Hartmann has done a pretty good job with its 'VANSPORTS' tuning program.

Beginning with the performance mods, the available ECU kits lift the 2.0-liter TDI from 138hp (140PS) and 340Nm (251 lb-ft) to 164hp (166PS) and 395Nm (291 lb-ft), and the 2.0-liter BiTDI from 177hp (179PS) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) to 209hp (212PS) and 460Nm (339 lb-ft) respectively.

Hartman continues with a more responsive throttle control kit, performance sport springs from Bilstein that lower the ride height by 35 mm, a sports exhaust for a more purposeful sound and small performance gains, and a new set of 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels shod in 275/35 R20 tires.

A styling package consisting of a front apron, rocker panels, rear skirt and chrome trims, complete Hartmann's offerings for the T5.
