Honda has shown the new turbocharged Civic Type-R at the Geneva motor show.
The Honda Civic Type-R Concept has been unveiled at the 2014 Geneva motor show, giving us our first glimpse of what the next in the iconic Type-R line-up will look like.

Although it is still an obvious concept at this stage, it is thought that most of the styling will remain intact or the production model that will be launched in 2015, albeit slightly toned down. Honda claims that the styling ‘represents Honda’s racing spirit’, and that most of the parts on the car serve a real purpose in increasing performance.
At the front, there is a spoiler for added downforce, with vertical side wings for reduced drag. Larger front intakes have been designed to maximise cooling potential, while at the rear, a new double rear wing will add downforce.
Although based on the standard Civic, the chassis will be modified to handle the extra power. The concept sits 30mm lover than a normal civic – with huge 20-inch wheels filling out the widened wheel arches. There’s the possibility of a rear-wheel steering system, although this hasn’t been confirmed.

The Type-R Concept also gets new headlights with integrated running lights, while the defining feature at the back are tail lights – which are built into that double rear wing.
There is no new news on the engine, but Honda says the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine has will produce around 280bhp – although more than 300bhp is very much a possibility.
